DILI, 15 december 2022 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste Chess Federation (TLCF) is preparing six players to compete in the 2023 ASEAN Para Games, which will be held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from 3 to 9 june, 2023.
“We have started preparing six of our players, including four men and two women to compete in the upcoming ASEAN Para Games. All of them are disabled chess players,” TLCF President Inocencio Ximenes told TATOLI in Dili.
He said some of the players are from municipalities, saying it is important to promote players from rural areas to compete abroad.
“Two of the players are from municipalities, while the rest are based in Dili,” Ximenes said.
He stressed that the six players had been training extensively to prepare well for the competition: “We believe that they will compete well to promote Timor-Leste abroad.”
So far, Timor-Leste has more than 100 disabled chess players in the country.
