DILI, 27 December 2022 (TATOLI) – The new Executive Director of the National Agency for Academic Assessment and Accreditation (ANAAA), Nilton Diamantino Paiva Mau, pledged to promote the institution, in his three-year mandate, to obtain international accreditation.
Mau made the statement following his inauguration as the new Head of the ANAAA, today, in Dili.
“During my mandate, I want to lead ANAAA to attain international accreditation, but to realize this plan, an internal evaluation will be necessary,” he said.
Mau defended the attribution of a certificate to the members of national panels who evaluate higher education institutions and courses in the country.
“The Timorese panel members need a certificate so that in the future, apart from evaluating courses within the country, they also can do it abroad. We hope that this can be achieved,” he stressed.
Mau promised that he will strengthen the collaboration with public and private higher education institutions, as well as development partners, to ensure the quality of education in the country.
“I came to collaborate. I also want to continue the work that has been carried out by the former Executive Director to ensure high-quality education in Timor-Leste”, he concluded.
Nilton Paiva Mau’s mandate would begin from 2023 to 2026, replacing his predecessor Edmundo Viegas, whose mandate ended this year.
