DILI, 04 january 2023 (TATOLI)-The Coordinator of the Program of Education and Capacity Building of Association of Visual Impairment of Timor – Leste, ( AHDMTL), Julio da Costa Fernandes said over 90 eyes disabled had benefited by the brille letter training from AHDMTL since 2017 to 2022.
“We have trained over 90 eyes disabled by teaching the braille letter. They can write and read to and access the information,” said the Coordinator of the Education Program and Capacity Building Julio da Costa Fernandes, when interviewed by TATOLI in his office AHDMTL, Manleuana, Dili on wednesday.
He explained that from over 90 eyes disabled there are 40 people who had succeeded in joint the formal Education in Timor – Leste.
“Over 25 eye disabled which had been received at the Junior High school, 10 people, in Senior High School across the Timor – Leste while 9 people in National University of Timor Loro Sae ( UNTL) and over 50 eye disabled continuing the brille training in AHDMTL,” he said.
He informed that, from over 90 eye disabled, there are 60 women, and 30 men and all of them stay in the AHDMTL’s dormitory which is facilitated by the Government of Timor – Leste through the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusiveness (MSSI)and the other donors from International Agency in Timor – Leste.
According to Fernandes, this program will be continued to cover the other eye disabled who still not attending the brille program.
