CPA strengthens the fight against HIV/AIDS in TL

DILI, 05 january 2023 (TATOLI) – The Community Progress Association (CPA) has organized various activities to strengthen the fight against HIV/AIDS in Timor-Leste.

CPA has realized a number of important activities to combat HIV/AIDS, including raising awareness of HIV/AIDS, organizing information sessions on HIV and AIDS infection and prevention methods, and providing contraceptives for clients with STIs, including HIV.

“CPA is working to prevent and eliminate the spread of the virus and contribute to the use of condoms by providing contraceptive methods such as birth control pills and vaginal rings,” CPA Executive Director Brigal Ferreira told Tatoli. in Dili.

CPA advises all HIV-positive people to seek treatment at hospitals. People living with HIV have access to testing and treatment at health centers in the country.

The awareness campaign, with 120 volunteers, is currently taking place in Baucau, Bobonaro, Covalima, Dili and the Oé-Cusse Special Administrative Region.

This campaign is expected to expand later this year to the municipalities of Ermera, Liquiçá, and Viqueque.

According to CPA’s 2018 survey data, about 4000 women engaged in sex workers’ activities, of which three thousand were women and thousand were men.
