DILI, 10 january 2023 (TATOLI) – The President of Timor-Leste Taekwondo Federation (FTTL), Gabriel da Costa said that four Timorese taekwondo players were selected to compete in the upcoming Sea Games, in Cambodia, which will take place from 5 to 17 may, 2023.
“We have selected four players from our training center to be completed in the upcoming Sea Games. They have been training and preparing for the competition,” Costa told Tatoli in Dili.
He said the four players would compete in four different 16-weight classes; 46kg, 49kg, 54kg, and 58kg.
Of the four players, Teresa Semio do Rego Cruz would compete under 49kg, Ana da Costa would compete under 46kg, Jose da Costa would compete under 54kg and Cerilio do Rego Cruz would compete under 58kg.
“This year we have selected only four players, unlike previous years when we always had 10 players to compete in such a regional competition. We have selected only four players based on the request of the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports (SoSYS),” he said.
Costa is optimistic that these athletes would demonstrate good performance and achieve good results.
