DMA will set up 2165 waste containers in Dili

DILI, 18 january 2022 (TATOLI) – The Dili municipal Authority will set up more than 2165 waste containers in Dili by July 2023.

Direcotr of Dili Municipal Water, Sanitation and Environment, Hermínio Monís Xavier said 2,165 containers of waste had been purchased by the China harbor Company and would arrive in Dili in July 2023.

“The procurement process is ongoing and a total of 12,165 waste containers will arrive in July 2023,” Dili City Director of Water, Sanitation and Environment Hermínio Monís Xavier told the Tatoli Agency at his office, Matadouru, this Tuesday.

According to Xavier, the containers consist of three sizes, namely a 1.1 square meter composed of 2002 containers, a medium size of 2.3 square meters composed of 131 containers, and a large size of 20 square meters composed of 14 containers with a total of 2,165 garbage containers.

At the same time, Xavier said, containers will be installed in Dili after a survey for the right area is identified.

“The company has carried out joint surveys to identify a suitable area for the installation of garbage containers around 178 km in Dili. The installation process will be carried out when the waste containers arrive in Timor-Leste between May and July,” he said.

This project is an International Competitive Bidding (ICB) that has been approved by the National Commission of Procurement (NCP).

“A great projects of more than 7.6 million USD are not authorized by the Minister of State for Administration (MoSA) and the Dili City Authority (DMA) to handle, but must be under the National Procurement Commission (NCP),”

So far, this procurement project is a joint venture between China Harbor International and PAX, and PIONEER Nasional.

The total amount spent was 7.6 million USD.
