Tourists from MS Paul Gauguin complement ‘Tais’ as a beautiful cultural heritage

DILI, 2 february 2023 (TATOLI)-Tais is a Characteristic of Timor-Leste’s immaterial cultural expression Representing Timor-Leste’s Identity and plays an invaluable role in community rituals and the economic and social activity of Timor-Leste.

Tais also serve as the common gift that the country provided to important guests and Tourist visitors.

Tourists From MS Paul Gauguin Cruise praised handmade Tais from Timor-Leste, after visiting Tais market. Rosaline Franklin a Tourist from the United Kingdom considered Tais to be beautiful handmade traditional clothes.

“For me, Timor-Leste is a very beautiful country. I enjoy the Tais market, I think the traditional fabrics are beautiful, with unique creativity,” said Franklin Tatoli, in Colmera.

Franklin said, Tais has an identic of colorful clothes which show the Identity of this country in the world, therefore she prefers to visit Tais shopping center to find gifts for her family and friend. 

Meanwhile, a couple from Great Britain expressed their first impression of Timor-Leste saying, Timor-Leste is a small and beautiful island that is full of friendly people and has great history and traditions.

“I am coming with my husband Michelle to see Timorese people, culture, foods, and History, We were in Papua New Guinea and now we are here, we will continue towards Indonesia. We only spend about five hours visiting Dili town, otherwise, we should not visit all interesting places across Dili,” Wendy Michelle said.

For Michelle, it is an important opportunity for visiting another historical and interesting place in Dili.

“We went to the Resistance Museum and Archives to learn about Timorese struggle for independence, We also wish to visit Timor Coffee shop and have a test of the aroma and original coffee,” she said.

These tourist visitors arrived from MS Paul Gauguin cruise at Dili Port at 7 am, along with 100 other tourists to visit Dili before heading to Indonesia Flores.
