DILI, 20 february 2023 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic José Ramos and the Ambassador of Brazil in Timor-Leste discuss bringing Brazilian pharmaceutical companies to invest in the country.
“We talked about the possibility of bringing to Timor-Leste a Brazilian company to invest in the industrial area, more specifically in the pharmaceutical industry sector,” the Brazilian Ambassador, Maurício Medeiros de Assis, told reporters after a meeting with the Head of State at the Presidential Palace in Dili, today.
He said the establishment of the drug factory would help improve the development of the health sector in Timor-Leste, as well as boost the country’s economic development: “The pharmaceutical industry not only boosts the public health network but also to export.”
“It is a simple project, and we are now in the embryonic phase. It is our initial phase, and of course, we will do more studies and exchange ideas with experts and medical specialists to come up with a final proposal for the establishment of the pharmaceutical industry,” Assis explained.
He emphasized that Brazil has a very advanced pharmaceutical industry: “We have public entities such as the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, which is responsible for manufacturing vaccines and medicines in Brazil”.
