MAF will send another 200 Timorese students to attend the AICAT program in Israel

DILI, 06 march 2023 (TATOLI) – The Chief of the National Department of Training Agricultural (DNFTA), of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries ( MAF), Domingos Cancio da Silva, said MAF through Arabia International Centre for Agricultural Training ( AICAT) will send another 200 Timorese students to attend the Job on Training of Modern Agricultural in Israel by 2023 September.

“We had signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AICAT by last month and will send another 200 Timorese students to attend the Job on Training of Modern Agricultural during 11 months in Israel by 2023 September,’’ said Domingos Cancio da Silva, told TATOLI in his office Comoro, Dili.

Silva, explained that based on the MoU, currently MAF had worked together with local Universities such as the National University of Timor Loro Sa’e (UNTL), University of Oriental (UNITAL) University of Peace (UNPAZ) Institute of Polytechnic Betano ( IPB), Institute of Academic Cafe Ermera, Agriculture School of Natarbora, Agriculture School of Maliana, Agriculture School of Fuiloro and Agriculture School of Oekuse in selecting the students in attending the AICAT program in Israel, all of the selecting processes is done by each institution. DNFTA only help to arrange their administration documents for departure to Israel in September 2023.

“The selection of candidates is conducted by each school institution while DNFTA is responsible for processing their documents, hopefully, each institution will communicate and coordinate well with MAF, on how to accelerate the process of recruitment, so that we can send them in September 2023,’’ he said.

So far, MAF working together with AICAT since 2015 and currently have sent 374 students from different Institution aiming to learn the science of modern agriculture professionally in Israel and further could be implemented to assist the farmers to increase food security in Timor – Leste.
