TL – Cambodia signs MoU on implementation of Air Service Agreement

DILI, 06 march 2022 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Timor-Leste (MTC) and the Ministry of the Secretary of State for Civil Aviation of the Kingdom of Cambodia signed a memorandum of understanding on the implementation of the Air Services Agreement (ASA), which was previously signed by the Minister in Charge of the Secretary of State for Civil Aviation, Mao Havannall, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, Adaljiza Magno, in october 2022, at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the implementation of the Air Services Agreement was signed by the Minister of Transport and Communications (MTC), José Agustinho da Silva, and Minister Havannall at the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC), in Dili, today. 

“Today we signed this MoU on the implementation of the ASA between Cambodia and East Timor,” Minister Mao Havannall said in his remarks.

He said that the signing of the MoU was intended to strengthen Civil Aviation Cooperation (CAC) and extend the annual service agreement between the two countries: “We hope that air connectivity between our two countries can be established in the near future.” 

“On behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, I would like to extend my great respect to all Timorese people, and the government of Timor-Leste, especially to Minister Silva for the wonderful hospitality and warm welcome,” said Havannall.

Echoing Havannall’s statement, Minister Silva said that the signing of the MoU marked a significant milestone in bilateral relations between Timor-Leste and Cambodia.

“The MoU signifies a bilateral understanding for the operation of the ASA before its official formalization,” Minister Silva said.

“Timor-Leste and the Kingdom of Cambodia are both perfect choices for entrepreneurs to explore the many business opportunities and also for tourists to explore exotic places in the two countries and around the world,” Silva said.

ASA is said to increase the influx of passengers traveling by air between both countries to mutually develop trade, economy, tourism, and investment. 

Meanwhile, ASA would also connect people, culture,e and business between the two countries, and also support the sustainable growth of aviation.
