DILI, 24 march 2023 (TATOLI)– The National Agency for Climate Change Mitigation (AND.IP) under the Secretary of State for Environmental Protection (SEA) handed over electronic equipment to the Director of National Methodology and Geophysics (DNMG) to support the natural disaster warning system (EWS).
DNMG President, Pedro Godinho Da Costa said electronic equipment will support DNMG, doing effective services to provide early warning systems related to disaster information to the public.
“This program is the responsibility of the State Secretariat for environmental protection and the equipment is offered to DNNG to provide early warning information to the public. This type of Electronic types of equipment will also support operational capabilities in EWS activities.” DNMG President, Pedro Godinho Da Costa told reporters at Mandarin, this Friday.
Costa added that the equipment was obtained from a green climate fund consisting of three laptops, three cellphones, an external disk, and anti-virus software.
The National Director of Methodology and Geophysics, Perensio Fernandes Monís said it was great to receive support from the National Authorities to fight Climate change.
“This equipment is vital for us to use in predicting the weather and providing initial information for weather predictions, or the possibility of a disaster due to climate change,” he said.
Secretary of State for Environmental Protection (SEA), Demétrio Amaral Do Carvalho reminded the two institutions to manage equipment and be responsible for this type of equipment.
“We have provided stickers or labels attached to the equipment that we benefit from from the United Nations through the green climate fund. This equipment will be used in Baucau,” he concluded
It is known that the equipment was obtained from Green Climate funds worth more than 9 thousand USD.
