EU provides 22 million Euro to 22 CSO to implement eleven projects in TL

DILI, 9 june 2023 (TATOLI)- European Union provided 22 million EU to the 22 Civil Societies Organizations to implement eleven projects in Timor-Leste.

EU program officer, Carla Da Silva said this year, the EU provided 22 million euros to support 22 civil society organizations in Timor-Leste to implement 11 various programs.

“ We are providing 22 million Euro to support 22 civil society organizations in Timor-Leste to continue implementing various programs with different periods of implementation,’’ EU program officer, Carla Da Silva told journalists in Fongtil office, Caicoli, this Friday.

Silva said that the eleven projects comprise Women empowerment, Gender equality, Gender Based Violence, Climate Change, Culture, Conflict Resolution, Youth, Economy development, people with disability, LGBTQ program, and others.

While the applicants consist of international and national organizations: Mercy Crops, Child Fund, ADRA, World Vision TL, Care International Timor-Leste, Plan International Timor-Leste (PITL), Rede Feto, ADTL, AHDTL, ARCORIS, AJAR, Ba Futuru, Estrela+, Fokupers, Alfela, Belun, Mane Vizaun Foun, RAEBIA, Haburas, and others for the implementation of the project.

Executive Director of FONGTIL, Valentim Da Costa Pinto said it is an excellent moment for SCO in Timor-Leste to have a meeting to share the information on the European Union budget with support CSO in Timor- Leste.

“We want to hear the EU’s priority programs needed to implement in Timor-Leste. We also evaluate the cooperation between international and national organizations to ensure the great output of the project implementation in the future,’’ He said.

Mr. Valentim also expresses gratitude for the EU’s support for the country’s development in many sectors in Timor-Leste.

It is known that in 2024, the EU will provide 8 million Euros to support national programs such as Democracy, Human Rights, and other programs.

So far, the EU provides during the last seven years, 92 million Euros in the implementation of the national program in Timor Leste
