ANA-TL’s scholarship applications on Aviation-Related Fields now open

DILI, 23 june 2023 (TATOLI) – Air Navigation Administration Timor-Leste (ANA-TL)’s Scholarship is now open for application. Ten young Timorese will be recruited for the 2023 intake to study aviation-related fields at Indonesian aviation universities.

ANA-TL is responsible for the selection process of the scholarships, including registration, shortlisting candidates, written and interview tests, physical and medical tests, and the signing of scholarship contracts.

The 10 selected young Timorese will undertake studies in the fields of Airport Electrical Engineering, Airport Civil Engineering, Air Navigation Engineering, and Air Firefighting Engineering at two of Indonesia’s top aviation universities – Indonesian Civil Aviation Institute (ICAI) and Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya (Poltekbang).

The tuition fees of the scholarship program will be funded by the Timor-Leste Human Capital Development Fund (FDCH) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture (MoHESC), totaling US$81,000.

The 10 selected scholarship winners are expected to leave for Indonesia in august 2023.

President of the Air Navigation Administration Timor-Leste (ANA-TL), José Trindade da Cruz Pinto said that studying Airport Electricity Engineering, Airport Civil Engineering, Air Navigation Engineering, and Air Firefighting Engineering is crucial to improving Airport Services, and Security: “I think sending our young Timorese to study these specific areas will help us to effectively manage our airport in the future.”

“Applications for the scholarships for the four aviation-related areas are now open. I would like to encourage young Timorese to apply for these scholarships,” Pinto said at Nicolao Lobato International Airport, in Dili, today.

He recalled that last year ANA-TL sent six young Timorese who are currently studying Airport Operation, Fire Services, and Airport Rescue in Poltekbang, Surabaya, Indonesia

“Eight of our 2019 intake fellows completed their studies last year and are currently working at Nicolau Lobato International Airport. They showed good performances during their studies in Indonesia,” Pinto added. 

He said the selection process is rigorous in order to select brilliant young Timorese to study in Indonesia.

Eligibility: To be eligible, applicants must:

  • be a citizen of Timor-Leste;
  • be a high school graduate between the age of 17 and 20 when applying for this scholarship program;
  • be in good health both mentally and physically;
  • be ready to contribute to the country’s national development;
  • be independent and active learners;
  • be fluent in English and Indonesian language;

Application Documents: 

  • Copy of High School Diploma/ Certificate with a score of no less than 7 in Social Sciences and 6.75 in Natural Sciences.
