UNICEF and SSCS will work together to promote  the right of Timorese children

DILI, 09 august 2023 (TATOLI) – The Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Timor-Leste, Bilal Durrani, met with the Secretary of State for Social Communication (SSCS), Expedito Dias Ximenes, to discuss the continuation of cooperation, for promotion the children’s rights through the dissemination of information via the media in Timor – Leste

“UNICEF wishes to work with the community radio stations, as well as state media outlets such as Tatoli news Agency and Radio Television of Timor- Leste (RTTL)to share the messages about children’s rights and also working with reporters under the age of 18 to gather the stories and produce programs on radio community stations,” Bilal Durrani told reporters at the Government Palace, Dili

Bilal Durrani, also referred that the two parties will work together to conduct training for young people on how to use the Internet safely and healthy manner.

At the same place the Secretary of State for Communication Social Expedito Dias Ximenes, to promote children’s rights, the two institutions will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in a short time.

“The purpose of the visit of the UNICEF representative is to collaborate with SSCS in training Timorese youths, especially children in primary and secondary schools, regarding the use of the Internet, in order to help them conduct the research safely”, he said.

So far UNICEF had worked with the government in empowering the children ‘s rights how to access education, food nutrition, and health in Timor – Leste.
