CNS and MoH sign MoU to strengthen Education support

DILI, 9 september 2023 (TATOLI)-China South Publishing & Media Group (CNS) and the Ministry of Education of Timor-Leste signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in the education sector.

The agreement was signed between Zhou Yixiang, General Manager of China South Publishing and Media Group, HE Dr. Domingos Lopes Lemos, Secretary of State for General Secondary Education and Technical-Vocational Secondary Education, witnessed by Governor of Hunan Province, H.E. Mao Weiming and Dulce de Jesus Soares, Minister of Education at the Ministry of Education of Timor-Leste.

According to the agreement CNS will develop, compile, and print teaching materials, teachers’ books, and training materials based on local development needs, and build a digital education platform to assist the development of Timor-Leste’s education industry.

Odília das Dores Ung Martins, Director General of Planning, Policy, Inclusion, and Printing of the Ministry of Education, delivered a speech at the ceremony. She expressed her respect and welcome to Governor Mao Weiming and CNS many times and gave feedback on the Timor-Leste Ministry of Education’s firm determination to promote the country’s education, as well as its urgent needs in the fields of textbook printing, teacher training, and digital education.

She said:” The signing of the memorandum of understanding on cooperation marked that the Ministry of Education of Timor-Leste would join hands with CNS to jointly open a new chapter in Timor-Leste’s education,”

During the ceremony, CNS also donated 1,000 books to the Ministry of Education of Timor-Leste to enrich the reading content of Timor-Leste children.

General Manager of CSMPG, Zhou Yixiang, said:” With the 1000 units of book, CNS wishes to support the high school learning process and support Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Education to improve the Education system in Timor-Leste,”

At the same place, Domingos Lopes Lemos, Secretary of State for General Secondary Education and Technical-Vocational Secondary Education, appreciated the Government of China through China South Publishing Media for the support of 1,000 books of science for high school students.

Lemos added that all the books will be distributed to all High schools across Timor-Leste.

Chinese participants attending the ceremony included Mr. Xu Danyang, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Timor-Leste, and Mr. Qu Hai, Secretary General of the People’s Government of Hunan Province.

Ministry of Education attending the event were Mr. Napoleão de Araújo Santos Lima, Chief of Staff of the Secretary of State for General Secondary Education and Technical-Vocational Secondary Education, Mr. Deolindo da Cruz, Director General of Education and Teaching, Ms. Odília das Dores Ung Martins, Director General of Planning, Policy, Inclusion and Printing, Mr. Pedro Ribeiro Gonçalves, Coordinator of the Office of the Minister of Education.
