DILI, 21 september 2023 (TATOLI) – Speaking at the 26th High-Level Meeting organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center (GNIC), with the theme: “Moving towards the future, rebuilding multilateralism,” President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta emphasized the importance of multilateralism in addressing climate change, poverty, and inequality. 

Horta said that multilateralism plays a crucial role in responding to challenges from climate change, poverty, and inequality. 

The Head of State called for a new approach to international relations, based on cooperation and dialogue, rather than conflict and confrontation.

During the meeting, other heads of State also shared their thoughts and discussed the challenges and opportunities that the world faces in the 21st century, and how to use multilateralism to resolve these challenges. 

These world leaders emphasized the importance of cooperation and dialogue between nations and the need to work together to build a more just and equitable world.

The speakers provided important knowledge on how to use multilateralism to resolve these challenges. 

The event was held as one of the events of the 78th United Nations General Assembly at the Knickerbocker Hotel in New York, USA. It was attended by over 30 Heads of State and Government from over 40 nations worldwide.

President Horta, on tuesday, also participated in Citigroup’s Global Innovation Challenge on Food Security, in which the Head of State underscored his commitment to addressing the global hunger crisis through investing in food security and innovative solutions.
