DILI, 04 january 2023 (TATOLI) – Last year, Timor-Leste Customs Authority (TLCA) collected more than US$103 million for the state treasury.

According to TLCA Commissioner José António Abílio, of the US$103 million, US$33.5 million were collected from import duties, US$46 million from selective consumption tax, US$22.9 million from sales tax and US$302,000 from fines.

He said that there was a 2.5 per cent increase compared to 2022 which contributed to the rise in domestic revenue.

Commissioner Abílio also revealed that last year the Tibar Port collected US$98 million and the Port of Covalima raised US$551,000. Meanwhile, President Nicolau Lobato International Airport collected US$1.4 million and Covalima 4.4 million. As for land entry fees, the border posts collected US$4.5 million. 

In 2022, the Timor-Leste Customs Authority collected around US$100 million.
