DILI, 08 january 2023 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste Customs Authority (TLCA) reports that more than 10,000 Timorese traveled during Christmas for the holidays.
Most of these Timorese traveled to Indonesia from Christmas week from 20 december to New Year’s Day.
TLCA’s Commissioner, José António Fátima Abílio, said that these Timorese traveled to Indonesia and other countries.
“According to the TLCA customs declaration data, more than 10,000 Timorese entered and left the country over Christmas,” Abílio told Tatoli.
According to him, most travelers going abroad pass through the Batugade border, which means that most of them spend Christmas in Indonesia: “They went shopping, visited family, etc.”
The Batugade border was the busiest it has ever been during the Christmas and New Year travel period.
