DILI, 19 january 2024 (TATOLI) – The National Directorate for Community Forestry Development (DNDFK) has facilitated the export of 96 tons of Laccifer Lacca Kerr to Indonesia by three companies from the Special Administrative Region of Oecusse Ambeno (RAEOA).
“In 2023, we supported three companies to export 96 tonnes of Laccifer Lacca Kerr to Indonesia, with Oemeltimo exporting 47 tonnes, Tryawars exporting 42 tonnes and Madarlin exporting 7 tonnes,” explained DNDFK Director, Pascoal Barros do Carmo.
Carmo said that the Government through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry (MAPPF) has been exporting Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs since 2022, including Laccifer Lacca Kerr.
In 2020, DNDFK also supported the export of 158 tons of Laccifer Lacca Kerr to Indonesia.
In addition, in 2022, the DNDFK also supported the export of teak wood to China.
Last year, MAPPF, through the DNDFK, collected more than US$149,000 from the tax exemption scheme for non-timber forest products, logging licenses, etc.
“From january to december 2023, we managed to collect US$149,753.42 for the national treasury from forestry production activities,” said Carmo.
