Japan to construct a new building for RTTL

DILI, 23 january 2024 (TATOLI) – The Japanese government through its Embassy in Dili will build a new building for Timor-Leste state-owned Radio Television Timor-Leste (RTTL), EP.

This commitment was conveyed by the Japanese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Tetsuya Kimura, during a meeting with the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Expedito Dias Ximenes, at the Palace of Government, in Dili, on tuesday.

Ambassador Kimura said that construction of the new RTTL, EP building is expected to begin this year.

“We will soon build a new building for RTLL to be equipped with a studio and training center for RTTL staff members,” said Ambassador Kimura.

Kimura revealed that Japan will contribute US$5.9 million for the construction of the new building, which will be carried out by the UNDP: “The construction project will be completed in 2026.”

Meanwhile, the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Expedito Dias Ximenes, on behalf of the Government of Timor-Leste, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Japanese government for its support.

“We hope this new building will support the work of RTTL, EP to be equipped with a studio and training center,” said Ximenes.
