DILI, 30 january 2024 (TATOLI) – Through the Civil Society team of the Presidency of the Republic, President Horta recently provided support to a family with disabilities in Bidau Village, Dili.
This family, is led by 75-year-old, João Camões, who has been struggling since he fell ill during the COVID-19 pandemic and could no longer work.
Camões’ wife, 66 years old, Beatriz da Silva Gomes, has been trying to sustain the family but it’s difficult because two of their children also have mental disability conditions.
This family has not yet received help from outside and lives in very difficult conditions.
A team from the Civil Society of the Presidency visited the family and delivered basic necessities, including, rice, cooking oil, a spring bed, biscuits, and so on.
“We are very grateful because there is now a Team from Civil Society from the Presidency of the Republic who brought basic necessities to our family, thank you very much once again,” said Beatris.
The assistance highlights President Ramos-Horta’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups like families of people with disability. The Presidency hopes the aid can help relieve the difficulties faced by the family.
