DILI, 20 november 2024 (TATOLI)— Ambassador of Portugal for Timor Leste, Manuela Bairros met the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, discussed the bilateral relationship, and also wants to have further cooperation in 2025.
A note accessed by TATOLI Agency said that the Ambassador of Portugal for Timor-Leste, Manuela Bairros met the President of the Republic José Ramos Horta on wednesday at the Presidency Palace, Bairro Pite, Dili.
This diplomatic meeting aims to tie bilateral meetings in 2025 and discuss the preparation of some important events to strengthen Timor Leste and Portugal’s relationship in the upcoming years.
One of the important events is the visit of Prime Minister Portugal to Timor Leste in June 2025. Prime Minister Portugal will participate in the ASIA Lusophone Conference Unit. He was invited by the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão.
During the meeting, Timor-Leste and Portuguese-speaking countries in the CPLP discussed the sports event and the new cooperation plan.
Ambassador Bairros and President Horta stressed the importance of strengthening the Portuguese education program in Timor Leste as a sustainable bilateral program.
Mrs. Bairros noted that even though this is not a routine meeting, it is very important to align priorities and ensure effective preparation for the mutual initiative and planning in the upcoming year, 2025.
Ambassador Bairros stressed the commitment of the two countries to explore historical relations in education, culture, and diplomatic exchange.
