DILI, 25 november 2024 (TATOLI) – Julie Sustrisno Laiskodat, Member of Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR-RI) and wife of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Governor, Sosok Viktor Laiskodat made her inaugural visit to Timor-Leste at the invitation of President of the Republic Jose Ramos Horta.
During her visit to Madre Alma Orphanage in Bebonuk, Laiskodat emphasized that despite political separation, “we remain brothers and sisters.”
Drawing from her experience with similar institutions in NTT, she announced plans to establish a scholarship program for the orphanage residents, recognizing their potential to contribute to society despite their challenges.
The three-day visit from november 24-26 includes meetings at the Timor-Leste Parliament and various locations throughout Dili, where Laiskodat is sharing her expertise in small business development, particularly in the coffee sector.
President Horta accompanied Laiskodat during the orphanage visit, highlighting the importance of maintaining strong bilateral relations between Timor-Leste and Indonesia’s NTT province through social welfare and economic cooperation initiatives.
