DILI, 03 december 2024 (TATOLI) – The Parliament’s Committee (F) on Health, Social Security and Gender Equality has called for an end to discrimination against people with disabilities.
The Head of Committee F, Maria Barreto, congratulated all people with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of guaranteeing the protection of the rights of people with disabilities.
She also called on the Ministries of Education and Higher Education, Science and Culture to invest in teaching sign language.
Barreto also urged the relevant institutions to identify and address accessibility issues in the country, especially the Ministry of Public Works.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3) is celebrated annually with aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
