DILI, 19 April 2025 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste’s soccer player João Pedro has been selected to represent the ASEAN All-Stars in an international charity match against Manchester United on May 28, 2025, at Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His selection recognizes his exceptional performance and professionalism.
The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) President, Major General Khiev Sameth, extended a VIP invitation to the Timor-Leste Football Federation (FFTL) President, Nilton Gusmão dos Santos, to attend the match. The event is part of the Maybank Challenge Cup, aiming to celebrate ASEAN football and raise funds for the Al-Sultan Abdullah Foundation (YASA), highlighting football’s impact on social causes.
Kim Sang-Sik, Head Coach of the Vietnam National Team and the 2024 ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup champion, will lead the ASEAN All-Stars team. His tactical expertise is expected to bring together top regional talent for this prestigious occasion.
