DILI, 24 June 2025 (TATOLI) – The National Parliament has ratified the visa exemption agreement with Malaysia, allowing visa-free travel for holders of all types of passport — including diplomatic, official, service, and ordinary passports.
House Speaker Fernanda Lay announced during Monday’s plenary session that the Visa Agreement was approved by 58 votes in favor, none against, and no abstentions.
The ratification of the visa exemption aims to further strengthen bilateral relations, promote tourism between the two countries, and fulfil Timor-Leste’s commitments as part of its ongoing accession process to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The Government said that the move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and make travel between the two nations easier.
