The U.S Embassy  joined the graduation ceremony for English training program

DILI, 14 december 2020 (TATOLI)- Forty-six Timorese students have completed their English language courses at the Lorosa’e English Language Institutions (LELI) for this year.

U.S. Embassy Dili Charge d’Affaires, Elias Parra joined the graduation ceremony to congratulate the students who successfully completed this two-year English course provided by LELI through U.S. Embassy Dili’s Access Micro-Scholarship Program.

This annual Scholarship is offered to Timorese students from Primary and Secondary schools who are qualified with high great and coming from low-income families with aim to improve their English language skill for free.

Many access Micro-Scholarship graduates have successfully attended the scholarship program to continue study abroad in the U.S. European and other countries.

In addition, many students are also participated in the youth exchange program and the development programs such as Young Southeast Asian Leadership Initiative, YSEALI.

The Access Micro-Scholarship Program started in 2008 and has provided free English language training to more than 350 Timorese students with a total funding of more than $250,0000.

The program is carry out through the cooperation between the Lorosa’e English language Institute (LELI) and The National University of Timor-Lorosa’e (UNTL).
