China commits to support Timor-Leste through DTMB

DILI, 18 february, 2021 (TATOLI) – China’s Ambassador in Timor-Leste, Xiao Jian Guo said China is pledged to provides the technical supports for Timor-Leste Radio and Television Agency (RTTL.E.P) through the cooperation established by the both governments.

“Based on the agreement of both sides, Chinese contractor will continue to work with its Timorese counterparts for two years, providing maintenance service, to  RTTL.E.P ” Ambassador Xiao Jianguo at the launching of ceremony for Digital Television Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcasting (DTMB) at Guico village, Liquica.

Ambssador Jianguo noted that the relationship between both countries not only demonstrates the friendships but also a mutual trust for the partners with sincere to develop a community with strong cultural humanity.

“Today is a day worth celebrating, because it witnessed a milestone in the history of development cooperation between China and Timor-Leste ,” Mr Janguo said.

he said under the demonstration projects, more than 200.000 people in Dili and its surrounding areas, especially residents in mountainous areas, will have access to high definition of digital TV programs.

“This will greatly enrich the cultural life of Timorese people, open a new window for them to learn more about the outside world and even provide their children and young people with better access to quality of educational resources at home,” he said.

The program will be implemented in three municipalities, Ermera, Liquica and Bobonaro and villages within the three municipalities.

Minister of parliamentary and Social Communication, Francisco Jerónimo said the cooperation underlined the Chinese support in providing maintenance service and technical supports to all the staffs of the institution.

“This support will help us to make our own maintainance for the digital sustainablity. China will provide the training for all the technical team, thus when the staffs are ready, they will let us manage our own digital system,” he said.

Ms Jeronimo said he will conduct the evaluation to the staffs, to know how far they understand about the training.

“I will ask China to assists and continue to provide the training until the staffs can have better understanding and do the better work on digitalisation,” he said.
