Parliament authorise the President to Issue a State of Emergency

DILI, march 1, 2021 (TATOLI)— Timorese Parliament has authorised the President to issue the State of Emergency with the vote of confirmation being held on march 1, 2021.

President of Parliament National, Aniceto Longuinhos Lopes said, Parliament decided after receiving a message from the President Republic which requested the Parliament to authorise the State of Emergency that will begin from march 4, 2021, at 00:00 o’clock to april 4, 2021, at 23:59 within 30 days for all national territories.

“With regards to the request of the president, parliament is taking immediate action to allow the Government to issue the State of Emergency.” PPN Aniceto Guterres said on monday plenary.

The request explained the State of Emergency in all national territories begin on 4, of march, at 00:00 and will end in 2 of april 2021 at 23.59 lasting for 30 days, and will control the following activities:

1. The International Circulation will be partially suspended, the freedom of circulation, limits the right for gathering  and the cultural freedom including limits for the religious celebrations to avoid the further spread of COVID-19.

2. The request also highlighted the control and suspension for the school activities and learning process as well as the suspension for present regime and prior right for the incentive of private economy and maintain the restrictions within the community to reduce the spread.

3. The control of all populations respecting rules to stay at home which will be monitored by public authority during the state of emergency.
