DILI, 17 march , 2021 (TATOLI) – The Minister of the Presidency for the Council of Ministers, Fidélis Magalhães, said the Prime Minister led the members of the Government to prepare a response to the socio-economic problems caused by covid-19 in Timor-Leste.
Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak wants the necessary humanitarian, economic and social support to the affected population to be determined and provided as soon as possible.
“The Head of the Government defined the national priority to faster respond and effectively to the costs and socio-economic implications of covid-19, to help recover the income of those who affected during the covid-19 situation as well as the unemployment and companies to exceed the financial difficulties,” Magalhães said.
At the same time, Magalhães added affirmed that the Executive will also conclude the support to university students who live outside their municipalities and away from their families.
“Soon, support will also be defined and finalized for frontline personnel, who daily combat this disease. It is also a priority for the Government to promote the Vaccination Plan against SARS-CoV2 in to accomplish the immunization of the population as soon as possible”, he said.
He also said, the Government is preparing the necessary financial measures to defray the response to the negative impacts of covid-19.
“The intervention proposals will soon be presented to the Council of Ministers for their appreciation and deliberation with a view for the rapid implementation”, he said.
