DILI, may 18, 2021 (TATOLI) – The new representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Timor-Leste, Bilal Aurang Zeb Durrani, said today that UNICEF will support Timor-Leste for the next two weeks, with 76,800 doses of vaccines.
“I introduce myself as the new UNICEF Representative in Timor-Leste. I inform you that this support from UNICEF aims to respond to the natural disaster situation and provide more AstraZeneca vaccine against covid-19 in Timor-Leste”, Bilal Aurang Zeb Durrani told the journalist after the meeting with the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, at Farol Dili.
Mr. Durrani said they also discussed the place to preserve the vaccine, adding that, these vaccines need to be in a cold and suitable place.
“I think that these vaccines can help at the municipal level and not just in the capital,” he said.
Bilal Durrani also recalled that UNICEF has already helped families who are still in evacuated centers with various essential goods and psychological support.
He stressed that the Head of Government thanked UNICEF very much for all the support provided to Timor-Leste.
