DILI,04 june 2021(TATOLI)-The New Zealand Ambassador to Timor-Leste Philip Hewitt informed that New Zealand Government agreed with the proposal from Timor-Leste concerning the AstraZeneca vaccine, saying that the New Zealand Government will support Timor-Leste with 24 doses of covid-19 vaccine.
“On behalf of the New Zealand government I would like to inform you that New Zealand Government will support 24.000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to Timor-Leste to prevent the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste,” said Ambassador Phillip in the New Zealand Embassy Farol, Dili on Friday.
He confirms that a 24.000 dose of Astra Zenaca vaccine will be delivered to Timor Leste by next week because adding that the Embassy of New Zealand will coordinate with WHO, UNICEF, and the Ministry of Health to manage the Administration to cover the Timorese population.
“Obviously 24.000 Vaccines of Astra Zenaca will arrive in Timor Leste next week but we still not know yet the fixing date,” said Mr. Phillip.
He also informs that the New Zealand government is very happy to support Timor Leste to overcome the surge of COVID -19 in Timor Leste to return the country to normal and have a quick recovery the economic growth to welfare its population in the upcoming future.
Following the official site posted by the New Zealand Embassy on Tuesday, June 1, stated that the Government of New Zealand has pledged to transfer 1.6 million doses allocated through COVAX to lower-income economies.
it is said that These doses, entirely funded by New Zealand, will go to several low- and middle-income countries, with the first 211,200 allocated to six economies in the Pacific region: Fiji, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, and Tuvalu.
