DILI, 07 june 2021 (TATOLI)- Indonesian Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Sahat Sitorus really appreciates the Timor-Leste government for the efforts made in handling Covid -19 in Timor-Leste quickly.
“The government of Timor-Leste has implemented the Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) in this case handling the Covid-19 prevention in Timor-Leste,” Said Sitorus during the hand over of humanitarian aid at the office of the State Secretary for Civil Protection in Cai-coli on monday.
Sitorus explained that the strategy undertaken by the government of Timor-Leste must be maintained and committed to continuing to provide direction to the people of Timor-Leste to be aware that Covid -19 is a very dangerous disease experienced by almost the whole world, including Timor-Leste.
He realized that this Covid -19 did not disappear quickly but all efforts must be made such as using masks, washing hands, avoiding crowds, discipline in social distancing, this method is very effective for everyone so that Covid -19 will be controlled and not spread to other communities.
The Embassy in Timor-Leste really appreciates the efforts made by the government of Timor-Leste by lobbying several countries such as Australia and China which have helped Timor-Leste through the Astrazeneca Vaccine from Australia and Sinovac from China, we hope that the Covid-19 Vaccine Assistance from other countries will coming in the near future to immediately vaccinate brothers and sisters in Timor-Leste.
“I really appreciate the Government of Timor-Leste for being able to lobby several countries such as Australia, China and the Covax Facility which has supported various vaccines for Timor-Leste,” said Sitorus.
Therefore, it is appealed to the people of Timor-Leste to be able to receive vaccines facilitated by the Ministry of Health in Timor-Leste in order to immediately reduce the spread of Covid-19 in Timor-Leste and thus Timor-Leste’s economy can recover as soon as possible.
Timor-Leste is very lucky because several countries have donated vaccines for Timor-Leste, besides that the population of Timor-Leste is approximately 1.3 million people, if the people of Timor-Leste are all aware of receiving this vaccine then the circulation of Covid -19 can be overcome as soon as possible by itself and economic activity will soon recover compared to the Indonesian people whose population is around 300 million who receive the vaccine, which is still around 15 million people.
