DILI, 27 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Australian Ambassador to Timor-Leste Peter Robert informed 50.000 doses of Astrazeneca Vaccine from Australia are heading to Timor-Leste, as the country battle the record of virus that forced an emergency lockdown.
“Australia is committed to working with Timor Leste in dealing with Covid-19 in Timor-Leste, thus to cover 80% of the population in Timor Leste, Australia Government will be shipped another 50.000 doses of Astra Zenaca vaccine to Timor-Leste tomorrow,” said Australian Ambassador, Peter Robert at the Foreign Affairs office, Dili today.
He added that Australia had previously sent 250.000 doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine to Timor-Leste to get all people vaccinated and Australia was committed to continuously provide the vaccine to Timor-Leste to make sure it is covered the target of 80% population.
Timor-Leste began a COVID-19 inoculation drive on April 7. As of Friday (23/07/021), more than 98% out of the country’s 134387300% population had been vaccinated against the virus, following the report from the Interministerial Commission for the Implementation of the Covid-19 Vaccination Plan.
