Indonesian Independence Day is marked by Laying Flowers at the Seroja Cemetery

DILI, 13 august 2021 (TATOLI)-The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia marked the 76th of Indonesian Independence day, by laying flowers at the Indonesian Veterans Memorial Cemetery SEROJAS Dili to honor their dead in Timor-Leste.

Flowers were laid by The Ambassador of Indonesia to Timor-Leste, Sahat Sitorus, Mrs. Bintang Vera C. Sitanggang, and Indonesian Citizens in Timor-Leste. 

Ambassador Sahat Sitorus congratulated the 17th of August, Independence Day, to all men and women at the event.

“This is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 76th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, and it is important to remember our Heroes because they are the founders of our country thus we need to honor their service,” Ambassador Sahat Sitorus told reporters today at TMP Seroja Dili.

At the same Time, Ambassador Sitorus thanked the Government of Timor-Leste for the opportunity given to the Embassy to celebrate the joyful day with Indonesian Citizens in Timor-Leste despite the country is currently under the restriction of covid-19.

“We respect the government’s decision to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, with a sad atmosphere, we are happy to be able to enliven independence day,” he said.

At the same time, Ambassador Sitorus advised the entire Indonesian citizens in the TL, to respect the existing policies through their respective professions.

“Do not go against the law and regulations to prevent the country from the virus,”said Sitorus.

Neli Ronald Roho also expressed his feelings for the ceremony, “For now, we feel touched by the death of the heroes who have fought for independence. As Indonesian citizens in the TL, we hope that the brotherhood of the two countries will be maintained and close cooperation” She said
