DILI, september 29, 2021 (TATOLI) – The Government’s Council of Minister has approved today the draft on the Pelican Paradises’ investment project presented by the Minister of Economic Affairs, Joaquim Amaral, and the Executive Director of the Timor-Leste Investment and Export Promotion Agency, IP-TrandeInvest Timor-Leste, Arcanjo da Silva.
“The Government has agreed to place 700 million US dollars for the development of a tourist complex in the country”, Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidélis Magalhães, commented the extraordinary at the Government Palace, in Dili.
The work will cover an area of about 558 hectares, in the area between Taci Tolu and Tíbar, where hotels, a golf course, residential lots, a development center for young people, an international school, an international hospital, and shopping centers will be built.
According to Magalhães, around 750 jobs will be created during construction and 1,300 permanent jobs will be created after the work is completed.
It is also estimated that 80% of the project area is intended for the reforestation and restoration of flora and fauna.
Pelican Paradise launched the first phase of construction of a hotel complex in Taci-Tolu, on February 28, 2020, the construction includes a five-star hotel, apartments, and 287 residences at the cost of around 100 million US dollars.
Its investment proposal was presented to Timor-Leste’s Government in 2008 under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Xanana Gusmão.
