Baucau, 07 October, 2021 (TATOLI)– The Community Development Center (CDC), has held a graduation ceremony for 30 training students from Agricultures and agroforestry who have been completed their training in the refers areas at the Community Development Center (CDC).
The group consists of 14 female and 16 male students between 18 and 26 years, all of whom have finished Senior High School, and continue their training through the program Ai ba Futuru.
The support of Ai ba Futuru allowed the students to follow their interests and acquire relevant knowledge in agroforestry that they are now sharing with farmer groups in their home municipalities Aileu, Baucau, and Viqueque.
The State Secretary for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE), Alarico Do Rosario expressed appreciation to CDC and recommended the CDC to continue incorporating these modules in its standard course curriculum.
“The program also qualified the students to take up positions in Australia, for which some of the students have already applied through the Pacific Labor Scheme, I am grateful about the agroforestry activities that have been implemented at CDC,” Alarico do Rosario said in a statement released earlier.
“Thanks to Ai ba Futuru, because students received training in agroforestry and we have prepared the youth for jobs within and outside the country”, said H.E. Alarico de Rosario, State Secretary for Vocational Training and Employment.
It should be remembered that The Partnership for Sustainable Agroforestry (PSAF), co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, enabled the establishment of a demo plot on agroforestry at the training center as well as the development of seven training modules.
A combination of theoretical inputs and practical exercises gave the students a deep insight into agroforestry practices and their various benefits for local communities and the environment.
