DILI, 30 november 2021 (TATOLI) – The Association of the Disabled of Timor-Leste (ADTL) and stakeholders today discussed the 2021-2030 National Action Plan for people with disabilities.
This activity took place within the scope of a seminar on the promotion of the rights of people with disabilities, under the theme “Ensuring the Policy, Action, Program, and Allocation of the General State Budget (OGE) in the development of issues related to disability”.
The event aimed to bring together stakeholders, especially the Ministries of Education, Youth and Sport (MEJD), Health, Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI), and the Secretaries of State for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE) and Social Communication (SECOMS) to discuss the implementation of the program over ten years.
“We discussed the action plan for the future, on how to ensure the policy, implementation, and allocation of the 2022 State Budget for people with disabilities”, said ADTL Executive Director Cesário da Silva, at City 8, in Manleuana, Dili.
Silva added that the ADTL future Action Plan aims to improve the protection of the rights of people with disabilities and provide them access to education and health.
The President of Committee F of the National Parliament (PN), Noé Ximenes “Buka Tuir”, said the PN proposes a fiscal envelope of 203 million American dollars in the 2022 budget for the 2021-2030 National Action Plan for people with disabilities.
According to the data record from ADTL, the country currently has 38,118 people with disabilities, of which around four thousand come from the Municipality of Ermera, three thousand from Dili, Baucau, and Viqueque.
