DILI, december 23, 2033 (TATOLI) – The government and partners recently released a report from the Timor-Leste Enterprise and Skills Survey (ESS) 2022, showing that civil engineering skills are in high demand in Timor-Leste, but it is still difficult to find these high skills in the country when it comes to the recruitment process.

According to the survey, the high skills that are most needed by companies are still not met by the fresh graduate engineers and etc. “Among all the skills, civil engineering skills are the most needed and the most difficult to find,” said a press release, issued by the Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment.

The ESS 2022 report was published by the Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE).

ESS 2022 was supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and the ILO through the Partnerships for Inclusive Governance Program (PROSIVU).

The survey data can provide a reference for teachers, lecturers, and trainers from different training centers, technical-vocational schools, and universities to consider in their curricula and teaching programs.

The survey results indicate that it is very difficult to find the necessary skills in five different professions, namely engineering, accounting, cashiering, marketing and advertising, and cooking.

According to the survey, 86% of the companies in Timor-Leste do not advertise their job vacancies through the media.
