DNCP collected $ 61,000 from the disposal of the wasted oils in two power stations

DILI, 13 january 2023 ( TATOLI)– The Directorate National of Pollution Control and Environmental Impact ( DNCP) raised over $ 61, 000 to the State treasury from the collection of the waste oil in the Hera power Station and Betano Power Station.

The payment was made by the Wartsila Company in-charged of oil in two power stations.

“DNCP collected wasted oils through Warstila company from Hera Power Station and Beteno Power Station every month to be disposed of in Tibar during this time, therefore Warstila Company made the payment to DNCP service,” Director of DNCP, Nelson Madeira told Tatoli.

Madeira said the amount raised by the DNCP to the state treasure came from the collection of the waste oils in the two centers of power stations, Hera and Betano, adding that the collection was also made following the decree law implemented by the government for the management, controlling and evaluation of biodiversity, environmental pollution in Timor-Leste.

“Based on the decree-law No 15 article 8, we have conducted the controlling and evaluation on the used oil in Hera Power Station and Betano Power Station and collecting wasted oil with a total of $ 61,000 from 2019 to 2022,” said the National Director of DNCP, Nelson Madeira in his office, Acait, Dili on friday.

Madeira added that the collection of wasted oils was done to prevent environmentally destructive and ensure public health in Timor – Leste.
