CNA has processed the procurement of the two industrial fishing vessels

DILI, 18 january 2023 ( TATOLI) – Director General of Fisheries, from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries ( MoAF), Acacio Guterres said the Government Ministry of Agriculture and Fishery’s plan to purchase two new industrial vessels had been processed by the Commission of National Procurement (CNA).

“The design of the two fishing industry vessels has been completed by the Surabaya Shipyard Consultants with a total weight of 350,000 tons. Thus the MoAF has allocated a total budget of $ 7, 3 million from 2022 and 2023 for CNA to process the procurement process” said the General Director of Fisheries, Acacio Guterres, when interviewed by TATOLI in his office in Comoro, Dili in thursday.

Guterres explained that all documents had been handled by CNA, so the Directorate of Fisheries together with shipyard consultants from Indonesia and the CNA would conduct a preliminary meeting to explain the process of vessel construction and purchase of vessels to companies before the tender is opened.

“The Directorate of Fisheries and consultants together with CNA will hold a preliminary meeting on January 20, 2023, to explain the technology of Vessel construction to shipyard companies and will then open a tender in the near future to interested companies. It is hoped that the tender winners will soon construct these new industrial vessels in their shipyard company,” he said.

So far there have been several international shipyard companies from China, Portugal, Indonesia, and several other countries that are interested in the tender, but currently, the CNA has not been announced the winners because being processed by CNA.

Based on the construction plan, the new fishing vessel will be constructed in 18 months, so it is estimated that the two-vessel industry will be completed in early 2025. 

The purpose of purchasing two vessel fishing industry is made to support the fishing industry in Timor-Leste.
