Armindo Maia: Investing in Education is Investing in the future of the country

DILI,25 january 2023 (TATOLI)- The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports ( MoEYS), Armindo Maia, highlighted the importance of all entities viewing the education sector as an important pillar for the development of the country.

“If we invest in the future of children, we are investing in the future of Timor – Leste. If we do not invest in education it is the same as having abundant natural resources but we continue to mark the pace,” Armindo Maia told reporters at the Palace Government following the celebration of International Education Day under the theme ” Invest in People, prioritizes education”

Minister Maia, added that Investment in education should be comprehensive, encompassing the improvement of infrastructure, training, and curriculum, as well as educational organizations and classroom management.

International Education Day is celebrated annually on the 24th of january. This Day was created through the Resolution 73/25 of the United Nations Assembly on December 03, 2018, aiming to sensitize civil society, so that the right to education enshrined in article 26 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
