CPA recorded two death and 478 families affected by natural disasters in seven municipalities

DILI, 11 april 2023 (TATOLI)– The Secretary of State for Civil Protection (SoSCP) recorded two people died and 478 families were victims of natural disasters that occurred recently in seven municipalities.

Civil Protection external communications Director Anacleto Caetano said the two deaths included a 12-year-old girl, Afriana da Costa, and a 10-year-old girl Sonia da Costa. The two were found on April 8 in the river near Bobonaro.

“Currently we are updating data on victims of natural disasters including two deaths are girls aged 12 and 10 and 478 affected families,” Aniceto Caetano told reporters, in Caicoli, Tuesday.

According to Caetano, victims of natural disasters have received emergency assistance consisting of food items and non-food items.

“We provided food to the victims for one week because they were rescued from their homes due to flooding and strong winds, the SoSCP team is currently working in each municipality to record the houses that have been damaged to receive the support from Government,”

So far, the 478 families affected by natural disasters recorded from Dili, Lautem, Ainaro, Viqueque, Same, Covalima, and Oecusse Ambeno (RAOA).
