Malaysia will offer scholarships to 20 Timorese students to continue their studies in Malaysia

DILI, 17 april 2023 ( TATOLI) – Malaysian Ambassador to Timor – Leste, Amarjit Sarjit Singh, said that the Malaysian Government through its Embassy in Timor – Leste will offer scholarships to 20 Timorese students to continue their studies at various universities in Malaysia by this year.

“The Government of Malaysia is committed to providing scholarships to 20 Timor Leste students this year, and these scholarships will be prioritized in the engineering field, such as mining, petroleum, and other study programs that still lack human resources in Timor Leste,” said the Malaysian Ambassador, Amarjit Sarjit Singh when interviewed by TATOLI at his office, Pantai Kelapa Dili.

Ambassador Singh added that training is also important because Timor Leste needs human resources, especially in the technical field to build Timor Leste in the future.

“Malaysia will continue to assist Timor – Leste through Capacity Building Training and also offer scholarships in priority areas to advance Timor – Leste in the future and also increase economic growth in Timor – Leste,” said Ambassador.

The Ambassador also explained that currently there are more than 20 Timorese students who are still studying at various universities in Malaysia:”hope that they will be able to complete their studies to return to Timor Leste to contribute to the process of national development in Timor Leste,”
