STAE begins the distribution of voting materials across the country and abroad

DILI, may 12, 2023 (TATOLI) – The Technical Secretariat of Electoral Administration (STAE) today began the distribution of materials for the parliamentary elections, composed of ballot papers as well as other materials for the normal registration of the electoral.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony, Minister of State Administration, Miguel de Carvalho, underline the need to continue strengthening the service of the National Election Commission (CNE) and the STAE to guarantee the independence and impartiality of the electoral bodies.

Carvalho also called on Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL) to intensify security in the country.

While, PNTL Operational Commander, Chief Superintendent José Soares, asked all agents to ensure the transportation and strengthen the security of all the equipment.

The President of the CNE, José Belo, in turn, acknowledged the importance of the PNTL working in partnership with local authorities saying to ensure the success of the electoral act.

Meanwhile, on april 5, Timor-Leste National Press (TLNP) started, the printing of ballot papers for the parliamentary elections, and more than one million ballot papers were produced.

In addition, the election will be attended by more than 40 election observers including European Union observers to ensure the effective running of the election.
