Timor-Leste Consumer Price Index rises 0.3%

DILI, 15 june 2023 (TATOLI) – National Statistical Institute (NSI) of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) reported that all group’s percentage change rose (+0.3%) for the month of may 2023, compared to april 2023 decrease (-0.2%).

Percentage change of All Groups (+0.3%) was contributed by Alcohol and Tobacco (+3.2%), Food, and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+0.2%). Transports (-0.6%), Furnishing, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance (-0.9%), and Clothing and Footwear (-0.1%). 

A rose in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages was driven by Rice (+0.7%), Sugar, Jam, Honey, Chocolate, and Confectionery (+1.5%), Milk, Cheese, and Eggs (+0.6%), and Fruits (+1.0%). 

The largest offsetting movement to the rise was vegetables (-0.3%), Oil and Fats (-0.7%), and fish and other marine foods (-0.4%). 

Tradable Inflation rose (+0.5%) and Non-Tradeable inflation rose (+0.1%) compared from may 2023 to april 2023.  

Tradable inflation has eased to a (+8.8%) and non-tradable annual increase to a (+2.8%) in may 2023 compared to may 2022.
