MAF and The Ambassador of Israel Sagi Karni hold the meeting with AICAT Alumni in Timor – Leste

DILI, 23 june 2023 ( TATOLI) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries ( MAF) together with the Ambassador of Israel for Singapore and Timor – Leste, today hold the meeting with Araba International Center for Agricultural Training (AICAT) in Timor – Leste.

The Director of Cooperation Development Institutional (CDI)of the MAF, Cesar José da Cruz, said the objective of this meeting is to the reunification of the AICAT Alumni for sharing the experience and progress which had achieved in the agriculture sector in Timor – Leste.

“The Ambassador of Israel for Singapore and Timor- Leste wishes to know the progress of agriculture which had been implemented by the AICAT Alumni in Timor – Leste. Ambassador Sagi Karni wishes to know the implementation of AICAT’s project about the agriculture sector to empower the farmers and its finding difficulties faced by the AICAT Alumni in Timor – Leste,” the Director of CDI Cesar José da Cruz, told reporters at the MAF’s office, Comoro Dili on friday.

He explained from this meeting Ambassador Sagi Karni wishes to know the implementation of AICAT’s project about the agriculture sector to empower the farmers and its finding difficulties faced by the AICAT Alumni in Timor – Leste.

Ambassador Sagi Karni also appreciated the AICAT Alumni who had transformed the science and knowledge from Israel’s agriculture to implement in Timor – Leste.

“On behalf of the Government of Israel I appreciate the Government of Timor Leste through the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries which had facilitated the AICAT Alumni in implementing modern agriculture science, to support Timorese farmers, to grow the paddy, vegetable, corn, tomatoes to increase the food security in Timor – Leste,” said Ambassador Karni.

Ambassador committed to continuing this cooperation between the two countries in the future.

At the same time the Representative of AICAT, Alumni Baltar da Concecao, thanked the Government of Israel and the Government of Timor – Leste for its support in developing the agriculture sector in Timor – Leste.

“We thanked the Government of Israel and the Government of Timor – Leste which had helped us transform modern agriculture technology and currently we implementing the theory of modern agriculture technology together with the group of farmers in some municipalities such as Baucau, Aileu, Vikeke, Lautem, Bobonaro and its result are very qualified, therefore asked to continue the AICAT ‘ s program in future,” he concluded.

So far over 374 Timorese students had sent to Israel to attend the AICAT program, amongst them 252 people continue their study program at AICAT in Israel. Based on the plan will send another 200 Timorese to Israel to attend the program of AICAT in september 2023.
