DILI, 25 August 2023 (TATOLI)— A total of 19 selected Timor-Leste students received scholarships from the Indonesian government through the Country’s Development Partners and Darmasiswa during 2023.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Timor-Leste, Okto Dorinus said that in 2023 the Government of Indonesia will provide CDP and Darmasiswa scholarships to 19 Timorese students. Of that total, 16 students received scholarships at CDP, and three other students at Darmasiswa.
“This scholarship provides full scholarships to developing countries including Timor-Leste to study at the best universities in Indonesia. It is given at the Bachelor and Doctoral degrees. Meanwhile, the Darmasiswa scholarship is focused on a cultural program where prospective students will study for one year in Indonesia,” Ambassador Okto Dorinus told reporters on the sidelines of the Media Afternoon Coffee event which was held at the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI), Dili, Thursday.
He said, in 2022 there should have been 352 scholarships in Indonesia, but only five students had received scholarships. The five students studied at the Forestry Vocational High School in Samarinda, Indonesia.
“The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also holding an arts and culture scholarship program with Friends of Indonesia. The two programs will bring the relationship between the two countries closer, especially between people to people to contact each other,” he explained.
CDP and Darmasiswa are scholarships provided by the Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for international students to study in Indonesia at the undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels.
