DILI, 25 august 2023 (TATOLI)—The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Timor Leste, Okto Dorinus Manik, conducted a meeting with the Prime Minister, Kay-Rala Xanana Gusmão to convey the Prime Minister’s presence at the Association of Southeast Asia Nations ( ASEAN) Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Ambassador Manik said that the ASEAN Summit will be held from 5 to 7 September 2023 which was chaired directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.
“The ASEAN Summit will not only attended by ASEAN Heads of State but also the partners from United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, and Australia, a total of 26 countries,” Ambassador Okto Dorinus Manik, told reporters at the Indonesian Embassy in Farol Dili, on thursday (24/08).
According to Ambassador, Timor-Leste’s presence at the ASEAN Summit is an observer status.
“This year ASEAN Summit was held twice, the first summit was in Labuan Bajo while the second or the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta, will be attended by Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Xanana Gusmão,” said Ambassador Manik
The ASEAN Summit is a biannual meeting held by the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in relation to the economic, political, security and socio-cultural development of Southeast Asian countries.
