DILI, 09 september 2023 (TATOLI)—The Ministry of State Administration (MSA) through the Electoral Administration Technical Secretariat (STAE), conducted the workshop to prepare for the Village Council elections in Timor Leste.
“Preparations for the Village Council elections, the first thing is to determine the election calendar and provide training to staff of STAE to prepare them for the upcoming election,” the Minister of MSA, Tomás do Rosário Cabral, told reporters in the City 8, Dili.
In addition, STAE will facilitate the transportation and voting equipment, including recruiting additional workers to support voter registration.
“STAE begins to prepare for the village council election process, so that those who are confused about the process, can contact STAE directly, in each municipality to get clear information about the process of the election,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of STAE, Acilino Manuel Branco, said that STAE is always preparing for the elections following the regulation of the Village Council election.
“After the Government set the calendar for the Village Council elections, STAE immediately took the initiative to support the implementation of the election, he explained.
According to the plan, Village Council elections will be held on October 28, therefore STAE will complete all preparation at the beginning of October to ensure the council village election according to the existing democracy which is implemented in Timor-Leste.
Meanwhile, the election will be conducted in 442 villages across Timor-Leste with an allocation budget worth $ 9 million.
